MPH Emerging Leaders Scholarship
“The Emerging Leaders Scholarship is a reflection of our tradition and commitment to nurturing the next generation of leaders that the world needs. We are excited to meet students who are ready for a rigorous college preparatory academic program and also demonstrate the curiosity, creativity, and leadership that aligns with MPH’s mission and vision. This is an extraordinary opportunity for students to experience an intellectual environment like no other in Central NY.” – Jim Foley, Head of School

What is it?
An opportunity for highly motivated, academically curious students entering grades 6-10 to complete the admissions process for the 2025-26 academic year early and be considered for a limited number of full, half, and quarter tuition scholarships.
These scholars will have the opportunity to enroll at MPH with special status as a Leadership, Phoenix, or Global Scholar.
Selected students will demonstrate strong academics, intellectual curiosity, and a commitment to MPH’s core values (Authenticity, Respect, Curiosity, Kindness, and Agency). They will also demonstrate the potential to become capable leaders within the MPH community – and beyond.
How does it work?
By January 10, 2025
Students/families should plan to submit a completed application for admission (including supporting documents) along with a completed Clarity application (to be considered for tuition assistance).
In December and early January, we will invite all participating families for in-person campus tours. Students are encouraged to bring a resume, graded assignments or other examples of their work along with them to their campus tour.
Mid-January:
The strongest applicants will be personally invited to participate in an in-person Scholarship Day.
Saturday, February 1:
For invited students and families, the Scholarship Day will include:
- Opening remarks by our Head of School, Jim Foley
- Interactive, grade level appropriate academic sessions led by current MPH faculty (for prospective students)
- Moderated panel conversations (for family members) featuring alumni, current students, and current parents.
Participating students will connect with other high-achieving students from throughout central New York and experience what it’s like to be in a school community that’s driven by intellectual curiosity and exploration, rather than teaching to a test.
FAQs:
Who is eligible to participate?
- Prospective students who are currently in grades 5-9 (entering grades 6-10 for the 2025-26 school year)
- Are US citizens or permanent residents
- Families should have a completed application for admission, as well as a completed Clarity application, no later than January 10
- Students who are already (or previously) enrolled at Manlius Pebble Hill School and/or have a parent employed by the School are not eligible for this specific opportunity

How will you choose the scholarship recipients?
The Admissions Committee will consider:
- Academic performance
- Overall strength of the application (including recommendation letters) and supplemental materials:
- Resume, writing samples, graded assignments, creative works
- Demonstrated leadership potential
- Demonstrated financial need (as indicated in the Clarity application)
Performance during the interactive sessions:
- How do students exemplify our core values:
- Authenticity
- Respect
- Curiosity
- Kindness
- Agency
What if my child is not chosen for a scholarship?
- All participating students who are eligible for admission will also be considered for Flexible Tuition, as determined by the Clarity application.
What if our family is not financially eligible for a scholarship?
We encourage all interested students and families, regardless of income, to participate in this program. Other benefits include:
- Getting to know the MPH community on a deeper level throughout this process;
- Connecting with other students (and families) who share a strong commitment to educational excellence;
- Receiving your child’s admissions decision in early February;
- Smaller tuition grants will be available for strong participants who may not be financially eligible for the larger scholarship awards.
When will I find out if I/my child has been accepted and chosen for a scholarship?
- All participants will be notified of their admissions, scholarship, and/or flexible tuition status during the week of February 3
Will this scholarship be renewable?
Yes. Families will need to submit an annual Clarity application; students will need to maintain good academic standing in order to maintain their scholarships.
Is this the same scholarship exam that MPH hosted many years ago?
No. We feel strongly that hosting an exam that’s produced by an outside agency is no longer the best way to gauge a student’s potential for success here at MPH.
Instead, our faculty members have designed interactive sessions that will mirror the classroom experience for students in grades 6-10. This experience will allow students to demonstrate their curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and leadership potential in ways that are not always possible through an exam.
Is there a GPA requirement to be eligible for this event?
Recognizing that school districts may use different grading scales and curriculum types, we do not want to place specific grade requirements for this opportunity. We encourage academically curious, high achieving students to participate.
Is there a fee to participate in this event?
No.
There are fees to submit an application with MPH and for the Clarity application; however, fee waivers are available. Please email admissions@mphschool.org for more information about obtaining a fee waiver.
