Winter Sports Teams Earn Recognition

Congratulations to our winter sports teams for earning recognition by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) with Scholar Athlete Team Awards. NYSPHSAA honors teams as Scholar Athletes if their average GPA for 75% of the roster is greater than or equal to 90 —  every fall team at MPH received this recognition.

In addition to the team awards, individual athletes are deemed Scholar Athletes for their personal academic achievements.  In Boys Varsity Basketball there were six students recognized, and in Girls Varsity Volleyball, 13 were recognized.

“The NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete program brings attention to the benefit and impact interscholastic sports participation has upon students,” said Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “We are very proud of this program and all of the students who excel in the classroom.”

We are especially proud of these students as they continue to balance their challenging course work with a multitude of extracurricular activities. Congratulations on a job well done!
