Boys tennis Hornets, Trojans pick up wins
Manlius-Pebble Hill returned to action last Monday and blanked Onondaga 5-0, starting with Dan Braverman’s 6-0, 6-0 singles romp over Zach Hay and continuing with Charlie Mann handling Taylor Featherstone 6-0, 6-1 as Trilok Reddy beat Dan Kelly 6-0, 6-3.
Both doubles matches went to the Trojans in straight sets, too, as Goldman and Jeff Bush beat the Tigers’ Corey Guyder and Max Marcy 6-1, 6-3, while Keerthi Martyn and Dan Mezzalingua won by a 6-3, 6-2 margin over Wood and Jake Massaro.
On Wednesday, MPH routed Phoenix 5-0 as Reddy, Braverman and Mann lost just one game in six sets of singles play, Bush and Nick Jerge beat Evan Baldini and Brandon Mironti 7-5, 6-2, with Martyn and Mezzalingua beating Aaron Erwin and Sam Stellingwerf 6-0, 6-1.
Then MPH picked up a big 3-2 win over Cazenovia on Friday, the key blow coming in second singles when Braverman survived three sets and beat Mitch Romig 6-0, 6-7, 6-3 as Reedy lost, 6-0, 6-1, to Nate Romig, but Mann handled Orson Sproule 6-2, 7-5. Martyn and Mezzalingua shut out Jake Walburger and Carson Clonan 6-0, 6-0.
