Upper School (9-12)

A few important things to know about the Upper School

A Community Rooted in Relationships

At Manlius Pebble Hill School, we believe that meaningful education stems from strong relationships. Our small class sizes ensure that each student is known and supported by teachers who specialize in adolescent development. Daily interactions, whether in small groups or school-wide gatherings, foster a sense of belonging and engagement.

A Journey from Seminar to Capstone

Students begin their Upper School experience with the Ninth Grade Seminar, focusing on setting expectations, honing study habits, and building community. Their journey culminates in the Senior Capstone—a year-long, self-designed research project that showcases their critical thinking, creativity, and project management skills. This progression embodies our core values: critical thinking, agency, and responsible action.

Innovative and Personalized Learning Opportunities

Moving beyond traditional Advanced Placement courses, our faculty-designed advanced classes delve into specialized topics, encouraging in-depth exploration and culminating in student-driven projects. Additionally, our internship program connects students with regional businesses and organizations, providing hands-on experience in various fields. Through the Malone Schools Online Network (MSON), students can also access real-time, interactive online courses in advanced subjects not offered on campus.

Preparing for College and Beyond

Our goal is to equip students not just for college admission, but for a fulfilling college experience and life thereafter. MPH graduates possess a deep understanding of their learning processes, the confidence to embrace academic challenges, and the skills necessary for advanced study. They leave our halls ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities and pursue their passions with purpose.
