Manlius Pebble Hill students chosen for All County, All State choruses

Fourteen Manlius Pebble Hill School students have been selected by music educator associations to sing in their competitive “all county” and “all state” choruses.

Three MPH students were accepted by the Onondaga County Music Educators Association (OCMEA) into the 2013-2014 Senior High All County Chorus. Junior Elena Karpoff will sing with the choir at the Senior High All County Festival being held this weekend at Liverpool High School. Seniors Matthew Parker and Jesse Sgambati were also selected, but are not participating because they are attending a Model United Nations conference.

All seven MPH vocalists who auditioned for the Junior High All County Chorus were selected by OCMEA. The chorus is comprised of Onondaga County students in grades 7 to 9. The MPH students who will perform with the chorus at the Jan. 24 Junior High All County Festival at Eagle Hill Middle School are: seventh grader Hannah Warren; eighth graders Gavin Meyer and Sarah Smith; and ninth graders Lydia Kelly, Liam Meisner, Sophie Novak and James Xu.

A half-dozen MPH singers have been selected to perform at the Jan. 31 through Feb. 1 New York State School Music Association Conference at Ithaca College. They are sophomore Jaya Mohan (singing in the Mixed Chorus); juniors Mary Morocco and Alexandra Purdy (Women’s Chorus); and Alexander Downey, Matthew Parker, and Jesse Sgambati (Mixed Chorus).
