Driver Education (In-person Only – MPH Campus)
Driver Education begins January 13 and runs through May 17. Students must be 16 years old by the first week of the course and possess a valid driving permit. Students attend theory and drive classes once a week, 1.5 hours each class/drive (three hours per week) to complete the required 24 hours of in-class and in-car requirements regulated and approved through the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles. Theory classes and behind-the-wheel instruction taught by certified driver education instructors. Students may miss no more than 2 theory classes and 2 drive classes, and ALL missed classes/drives must be made up during the time of the course.
Upon completion of the course, students will receive an MV-285 Student Certificate of Completion from New York State. This certificate includes the NY pre-licensing 5-hour course requirements, an insurance reduction certificate, and allows 17-year-old drivers to upgrade to a senior license. Our goal is to teach our students to be the most responsible, safe drivers possible.
Theory Classes:
- Mondays, 5:30-7:00 p.m.
- Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays, 4:15-5:45 p.m. or 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Available drive sessions will be listed when you register and choose a theory class time.
