Teresa Henderson Recognized
Manlius Pebble Hill School Visual Arts and Design Chair Teresa Henderson has been named the recipient of this year’s Union College’s Gideon Hawley Teacher Recognition Award. Students at Union College are invited to nominate one of their secondary teachers, and a committee selects a single recipient from the many nominations. Teresa will be honored at a luncheon on the Union campus in late February. The nomination was made by Lilly Maresco, class of 2017. Strom Thacker, the dean of the faculty and vice president for academic affairs said Lilly’s letter was quite persuasive and was particularly impressed that an art teacher was nominated by a student majoring in a science field.
Teresa has been at Manlius Pebble Hill since 2014 and was appointed Department Chair in 2015. Her students have been impressive in the Scholastic Art & Writing competition, last year earning 50 of the coveted awards. She’s well-known for her outside-the-box creative thinking, her dedication to student success and confidence, and her energetic personality.
Congratulations, Teresa, on an award well-deserved!
