Eighth Graders Recognized by New York Times
Together with Vocabulary.com, the New York Times invited students to participate in their 4th annual Video Vocabulary Contest. Students were asked to create a short video that defines or teaches any of the words in their collection, which features over 1,600 words. Winners were determined based on originality and how well each video showed an understanding of the word and its use in a specific context. Out of nearly 900 entries (most of them consisting of older teens) three of MPH’s eighth grade students were recognized with an honorable mention. Congratulations to Maya Heimes, Genevieve Morrow, and Ella Pisciarino, who received an honorable mention for their video on the word, “zeal.” A link to their video appears at the very end of the linked article.
