MPH MUN Team Performs Well at Syracuse University
On January 6-7, 2017 the MPHMUN team traveled to Syracuse University and competed in the prestigious Central New York Model United Nations Conference, sponsored by Fayetteville-Manlius High School. Over 600 students from 30 different New York State high schools were in attendance for this debate conference. The MPHMUN team performed spectacularly well, garnering 5 major outer committee awards and eight honorable mentions. Twenty two students competed in this conference conference and 13 earned recognition.
MUN Director Jeff Mangram says, “I am going to continue to demand excellence from the team! I am going to continue to demand that the students exemplify the 5C’s: Character, Caring, Chemistry, Commitment, and Competence in everything that we do!”
The following students won awards:
Zachary Montas—representing South Africa in the GA Historical Committee earned Best Delegate Award
Aiden Meyer—representing the country of Colombia in the United Nations High Commission for Refugees won the Best Delegate
Charlie Mann —representing the country of South Africa in the Commission on the Status of Women earned Best Delegate Award
Theo Eckert-Budis —representing the Ashoka Foundation in NGO Forum earned Outstanding Delegate
Jacob Roy— representing Malaysia in the Security Council earned Outstanding Delegate
Ahmad El-Hindi—representing Malaysia in the GA Historical Committee earned Honorable Mention.
Daniel Braverman—representing Finland in the GA Plenary earned Honorable Mention.
Amina Kilpatrick—representing Finland in the ECOSCO Plenary earned Honorable Mention.
Louisa Morrow—representing Finland in the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural committee earned Honorable Mention.
Andrew Benincasa—representing Malaysia in the Disarmament Committee earned Honorable Mention.
Aaron Lesch—representing South Africa in the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural committee earned Honorable Mention.
Olivia Markwood—representing Malaysia in the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural committee earned Honorable Mention.
Lucia Oesterlund—representing Colombia in the Commission on the Status of Women committee earned Honorable Mention
