Director of College Counseling Helps Promote College Aspirations for Students
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s office needed assistance finding the right college admission officers to speak with teens participating in the Justice’s New York City Judicial Internship Program. They called MPH’s College Counselor, whom they knew because Mr. Cardamone’s father was a former colleague of Justice Sotomayor. Mr. Cardamone was honored to assist. He reached out to his professional network to secure admission officers from Columbia, The Cooper Union, St. John’s and CUNY, who conducted an outstanding college admission presentation for the internship participants. Mr. Cardamone shared that “It was great to connect some of my admissions friends from excellent colleges with a group of very deserving high school students as they begin the college search. Although I did not have the pleasure of meeting this impressive group of teens, I am thrilled that I could offer a little assistance to reduce some of the anxiety regarding their transition to college. ”
