MPH violinist named SYO concertmaster
Jeongyoon Han, of East Syracuse, has been named concertmaster of the Syracuse Youth Orchestra. The Manlius Pebble Hill School freshman began playing violin at the age of five as a Suzuki strings student at MPH.
The SYO is part of the Setnor School of Music at Syracuse University. It is composed of top high school musicians, selected by audition, from throughout Onondaga County.
Before being selected as SYO concertmaster, Han for two years had been concertmaster of the Onondaga County Music Educators Association’s Junior High All-County Orchestra. She has studied at MPH and with private music instructors and is currently taking lessons from former SU professor James Krehbiel.
With the SYO this year, Han will take part in weekly rehearsal sessions and will play in the orchestra’s three public performances. Concerts in the 2013-2014 season will be held November 10, January 26 and April 13.
